Hot flush relief: 60% of menopausal women suffer nearly 1,500 hot flushes a year!

Unique new survey by Physicool reveals hot flushes severely affect confidence and relationships.

With shouts that this could be the hottest summer on record, spare a thought for the thousands of women going through the menopause. A new survey by Physicool, creators of a unique cooling mist designed to keep hot flushes at bay, has found that 60% of women have hot flushes more than 4 times a day – that’s 1500 a year! And with the menopause lasting around a decade (2), that’s 15,000 hot flushes in a lifetime.

In the survey of menopausal women, results revealed that nearly half (46.6%) had been suffering from hot flushes for over 5 years, with 40% saying that their confidence has been severely knocked as a result. In addition, 73% of participants felt there wasn’t enough help or information about the menopause available to them.

A staggering 94% of women polled find that their hot flushes result in less sleep, impacting on their work, social lives and even relationships. Nearly 40% confessed that flushes and night sweats have impacted on their relationship. One woman reveals:

“I wake every 30-45 minutes, so my sleep is very disturbed. I haven’t slept for more than an hour at a time for over 2 years.”

Deborah Bruce is a Consultant Gynaecologist at London Bridge Hospital, and is also on the council of the British Menopause Society. She has seen first hand the impact of hot flushes on many women:

“Very few products can tackle hot flushes effectively, but I have to say that the Physicool Cooling Mist really works, and I regularly recommend it to my clients. As soon as the mist hits the skin it begins to evaporate, drawing out the heat immediately and evaporating it away. This results in an instant cooling effect and also helps to alleviate redness (added aloe vera concentrate helps with this too). The mist also contains glycerine and castor oil, which leaves skin smooth and moisturised.”

A hot flush can raise skin temperature by 6 degrees, lasting anything from seconds to 10 minutes, causing flushing in the face, neck and chest, and excessive sweating. Some women become irritated, giddy, weak, or feel sick during a hot flush. Others also develop a thumping heart sensation (palpitations) and feelings of anxiety during the episode. The number of hot flushes can vary from every now and then, to 15 or more a day.

Physicool’s cooling mist offers instant long-lasting relief from hot flushes and night sweats. Using unique rapid evaporation technology, the mist draws heat away from the skin, reducing skin temperature and calming redness. Out of the women surveyed, a massive 93% found that Physicool’s Cooling Mist helps, with nearly 70% use Physicool multiple times a day. In addition, 87% found that the cooling benefits lasted for over an hour.

As temperatures climb, keep your cool with Physicool’s Cooling Mist.

Directions: Lightly spray the chest, neck and face. Allow the mist to evaporate and cool. Reapply as needed – easy!
